Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Crossing the pond by Hablot Knight Browne for GBP 180.00 (€ 266.84). This price was achieved in the auction British & Continental Watercolours at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hablot Knight Browne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Run with the Stag Hounds, including: Hold hard! Let the Hounds go first, if you please, Gentlemen; A Short cut to the Meet; Something wrong, as usual-lost shoes, stirrups, girth, &c.; Uncarting the Deer; Thrown Out. Have you seen the Hounds Sir?
