Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Maquette For Lincoln Memorial In Newark by Gutzon Borglum was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2009. Here, the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 62,500.00 (€ 44,244.66). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gutzon Borglum - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mares of Diomedes', which sold at auction in March 2006 for USD 144,000.00 (€ 118,625.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Maquette For Lincoln Memorial In Newark von Gutzon Borglum wurde im Mai 2009 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 62.500,00 (€ 44.244,66) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Gutzon Borglum mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mares of Diomedes' beobachtet, die im März 2006 für USD 144.000,00 (€ 118.625,92) versteigert wurde.
