Auction result misses estimated price range

In October 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Le Vapeur (Tugboat) by Gustave Le Gray for USD 18,750.00 (€ 17,104.54). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Le Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 887,927.86).
