The result of EUR 50,000.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Le Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 887,927.86).

Die Arbeit Souvenirs Du Camp De Châlons, 1857 von Gustave Le Gray kam im November 2017 bei Sothebys in Paris zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 50.000,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Le Gray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 887.927,86).
