The work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (Ships leaving the port at Le Havre) by Gustave Le Gray was sold in the The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation auction at Phillips in New York in October 2017. The »bidding war« ended at USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,388.74), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Le Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 887,927.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (Ships leaving the port at Le Havre) von Gustave Le Gray wurde im Oktober 2017 in der Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation bei Phillips in New York versteigert.
