Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Child'S Portrait No 2 & No. 5 (Two Works) by Guo Jin was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 87,500.00 (€ 9,858.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Guo Jin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Performance No. 7 in March 2008 with an auction result of USD 193,000.00 (€ 122,113.26).
