This artwork by Guido Reni achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2020. In the Old Master Prints including Property from the Collection of the Late Walter L. Strauss auction, the work Allegory of Learning (Bartsch XVIII.289.16) sold for GBP 1,512.00 (€ 1,689.04) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Guido Reni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David With The Head Of Goliath in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,177,250.00 (€ 4,046,962.53).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Guido Reni erzielen.
