Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Guido Reni could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Allegory of Fortune, holding a crown changed hands for GBP 599,250.00 (€ 708,243.36) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Guido Reni have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work David With The Head Of Goliath in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,177,250.00 (€ 4,046,962.53).
