Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art, which included the work Roses in a bowl by Grace Cossington Smith. The price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 36,602.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Grace Cossington Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With Jugs, which sold at auction in May 2004 for AUD 203,150.00 (€ 118,694.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Roses in a bowl von Grace Cossington Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 36.602,64) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Grace Cossington Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life With Jugs beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für AUD 203.150,00 (€ 118.694,01) versteigert wurde.
