Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian landscape by Grace Cossington Smith was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 26,400.00 (€ 15,410.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Grace Cossington Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Jugs in May 2004 with an auction result of AUD 203,150.00 (€ 118,694.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Australian landscape von Grace Cossington Smith wurde im August 2008 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 26.400,00 (€ 15.410,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Grace Cossington Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Jugs im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 203.150,00 (€ 118.694,01).
