This artwork by Grace Cossington Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Sydney in April 2008. In the Important Paintings auction, the work Australian Waratah sold for AUD 33,600.00 (€ 20,328.78) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Grace Cossington Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Jugs in May 2004 with an auction result of AUD 203,150.00 (€ 118,694.01).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Grace Cossington Smith erzielte im April 2008 bei Sothebys in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Paintings wurde die Arbeit Australian Waratah für AUD 33.600,00 (€ 20.328,78) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Grace Cossington Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Jugs im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 203.150,00 (€ 118.694,01).
