In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work The Doctor'S Visit by Godfried Schalcken. The »bidding war« ended at USD 68,750.00 (€ 61,664.72), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Godfried Schalcken have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 378,400.00 (€ 562,011.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Doctor'S Visit von Godfried Schalcken zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 61.664,72) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Godfried Schalcken auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 378.400,00 (€ 562.011,35).
