Auction result well in line with expectations
The work ALLEGORY OF HUMAN LIFE by Godfried Schalcken was sold in the Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900 auction at Sothebys in Paris in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 52,920.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Godfried Schalcken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 378,400.00 (€ 562,011.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit ALLEGORY OF HUMAN LIFE von Godfried Schalcken wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 52.920,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Godfried Schalcken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 378.400,00 (€ 562.011,35).
