This artwork by Godfried Schalcken achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2018. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Boy Holding A Candle, Perhaps To Illuminate A Halloween Mask sold for GBP 175,000.00 (€ 194,965.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Godfried Schalcken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 378,400.00 (€ 562,011.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Godfried Schalcken erzielte im Dezember 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Boy Holding A Candle, Perhaps To Illuminate A Halloween Mask für GBP 175.000,00 (€ 194.965,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 100.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Godfried Schalcken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Parable Of The Lost Piece Of Silver beobachtet, die im Juli 2007 für GBP 378.400,00 (€ 562.011,35) versteigert wurde.
