Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The death of Niobe's children by Godfried Maes was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2000. The price achieved of NLG 4,095.70 (€ 1,918.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Godfried Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia in April 2015 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,929.22).

Die Arbeit The death of Niobe's children von Godfried Maes kam im November 2000 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von NLG 4.095,70 (€ 1.918,77) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit NLG 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Godfried Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 54.929,22).
