In the The Dr Anton C.R.Dreesmann Collection Old Master Pictures auction, the work Apollo killing Python; Apollo and Cupid; Apollo and Daphne; and Hermaphroditus and Salmacis: Illustrations for the Metamorphoses of Ovid sold for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,258.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Godfried Maes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia, which sold at auction in April 2015 for GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,929.22).
