Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Apollon Et Amour by Godfried Maes was auctioned at Christies in Paris in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 2,400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Godfried Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia in April 2015 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,929.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Apollon Et Amour von Godfried Maes im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 2.400,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Godfried Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 54.929,22).
