In April 2002 Christies in London held the auction The Dr Anton C.R.Dreesmann Collection Old Master Pictures, which included the work Apollo seducing Leucothoe; Apollo pouring Nectar on Leucothoe's Tomb; Apollo at Vulcan's Forge; The Finding of the Infant Bacchus; The Slaying of the Children of Niobe; and The Flaying of Marsyas: Illustrations for the Metamorphoses of Ovid by Godfried Maes. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,575.00 (€ 17,110.07), 51% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Godfried Maes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia, which sold at auction in April 2015 for GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,929.22).

Im April 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Dr Anton C.R.Dreesmann Collection Old Master Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Apollo seducing Leucothoe; Apollo pouring Nectar on Leucothoe's Tomb; Apollo at Vulcan's Forge; The Finding of the Infant Bacchus; The Slaying of the Children of Niobe; and The Flaying of Marsyas: Illustrations for the Metamorphoses of Ovid von Godfried Maes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.575,00 (€ 17.110,07) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Godfried Maes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia beobachtet, die im April 2015 für GBP 40.000,00 (€ 54.929,22) versteigert wurde.
