Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work Design For A Ceiling Decoration With Allegorical Virtues Surrounding Entwined Initials Over Which Jupiter Holds A Crown by Godfried Maes for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,120.43). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Godfried Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia in April 2015 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,929.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli 2009 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Design For A Ceiling Decoration With Allegorical Virtues Surrounding Entwined Initials Over Which Jupiter Holds A Crown von Godfried Maes für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.120,43) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Drawings bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Godfried Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Four Continents: America, Africa, Europe And Asia im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 54.929,22).
