In June this year Phillips in London held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Untitled (America) by Glenn Ligon. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,064.00 (€ 4,729.80), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Glenn Ligon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion Evening & Day Editions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (America) von Glenn Ligon zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.064,00 (€ 4.729,80) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
