In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PAINTINGS PART I, which included the work Arrangements of flower bouquets in a majolica vase, a sculpted pewter and bronze urn and a ceramic ewer on a draped octagonal table with two lemons and other flowers, with a pug resting below by Giuseppe Recco. The »bidding war« ended at USD 508,800.00 (€ 389,914.94), 45% above the upper estimate. Other works by Giuseppe Recco have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 282,000.00 (€ 412,884.33) in April 2007 for the work Roses, carnations, tulips and other flowers in a glass vase, with pastries and sweetmeats on a pewter platter, on a stone ledge in front of a red curtain.
