Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2009 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints, which included the work Cupid showing Daphne to Apollo, from Loves of the Gods (B. 157; Massari 58) by Giulio Bonasone. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,536.44). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giulio Bonasone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Last Judgment, After Michelangelo (B., A. 80; M. 79), which sold at auction in July 2001 for GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,974.85).
