Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Birth of Saint John the Baptist by Giulio Bonasone was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,673.14). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giulio Bonasone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Last Judgment, After Michelangelo (B., A. 80; M. 79), which sold at auction in July 2001 for GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,974.85).
