In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master to Master: The Nelson Shanks Collection, which included the work A dog wearing a collar decorated with scallop shells by Francesco Mazzola. The »bidding war« ended at USD 20,160.00 (€ 17,980.73), 68% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Mazzola achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of A Bearded Man, Bust-Length, In A Black Hat, Wearing A Gold Chain With A Ring in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,159,395.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master to Master: The Nelson Shanks Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A dog wearing a collar decorated with scallop shells von Francesco Mazzola zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 20.160,00 (€ 17.980,73) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Mazzola erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of A Bearded Man, Bust-Length, In A Black Hat, Wearing A Gold Chain With A Ring im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.159.395,17).
