The »bidding war« ended at EUR 35,000.00 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Paolo Castelli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A melon, peaches, plums, quinces and grapes by a tree; and Grapes, apples and peaches in a wooded landscape in October 2006 with an auction result of USD 192,000.00 (€ 150,317.08).

Die Arbeit Watermelons, Apples, Grapes And Other Fruit, A Glass Bowl Filled With Apples And A Pomegranate, A Stone Garden Vase, All Set In A Landscape By A Stream von Giovanni Paolo Castelli wurde im Mai 2013 in der Auktion Old Masters and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 35.000,00 und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Paolo Castelli auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A melon, peaches, plums, quinces and grapes by a tree; and Grapes, apples and peaches in a wooded landscape im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 192.000,00 (€ 150.317,08).
