Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Recto: The Madonna And Child Possibly With St. John The Baptist Verso: Various Studies, Including The Head And Bust Of A Woman And A Drapery Study by Giovanni Lanfranco for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,215.18). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Lanfranco achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Execution of Saint John the Baptist in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 137,500.00 (€ 162,508.91).
