Auction result misses estimated price range
In January last year a collector was able to acquire the work Pope Gregory kneeling before a painting of the Virgin by Giovanni Lanfranco for USD 1,134.00 (€ 1,011.42). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Lanfranco achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Execution of Saint John the Baptist in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 137,500.00 (€ 162,508.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Pope Gregory kneeling before a painting of the Virgin von Giovanni Lanfranco für USD 1.134,00 (€ 1.011,42) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Lanfranco erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Execution of Saint John the Baptist im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 137.500,00 (€ 162.508,91).
