Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction The Grand Tour Sale, which included the work Trajan's column with figures nearby; and An architectural capriccio with an obelisk (2) by Giovanni Ghisolfi. The price achieved of GBP 15,360.00 (€ 17,694.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Ghisolfi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A capriccio of a Mediterranean port with bandits amongst classical ruins; and A capriccio of a Mediterranean port with a ruined temple and a statue of Hercules, with Orientals and other figures, an encampment beyond in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 80,750.00 (€ 130,571.69).
