Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Head of a bearded man by Giovanni Battista Piazzetta for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,281.98). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Piazzetta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David And Goliath in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 409,250.00 (€ 474,728.77).
