In July this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Conversation Piece by Gilbert Spencer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,040.00 (€ 8,213.55), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gilbert Spencer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Man at a sluice gate on the Thames in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,695.82).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Conversation Piece von Gilbert Spencer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.040,00 (€ 8.213,55) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gilbert Spencer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Man at a sluice gate on the Thames im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.500,00 (€ 42.695,82).
