Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giacomo Cavedone could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Jeffrey E. Horvitz Collection of Italian Drawings auction, the work The Head Of An Old Man, Probably St Joseph changed hands for USD 21,250.00 (€ 14,318.44) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giacomo Cavedone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Head of a bearded man in a cap, in profile to the right, with a study of another head in the lower left corner, which sold at auction in January 2004 for USD 65,725.00 (€ 52,782.69).
