Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Recto: A study of a priest holding a book, his right arm crossed on his chest; Verso: A study of a standing figure of a young soldier by Giacomo Cavedone was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,611.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giacomo Cavedone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Head of a bearded man in a cap, in profile to the right, with a study of another head in the lower left corner in January 2004 with an auction result of USD 65,725.00 (€ 52,782.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Recto: A study of a priest holding a book, his right arm crossed on his chest; Verso: A study of a standing figure of a young soldier von Giacomo Cavedone im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Head of a bearded man in a cap, in profile to the right, with a study of another head in the lower left corner im Januar 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 65.725,00 (€ 52.782,69).
