Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Michael Boyle, Lord Primate And Chancellor Of Ireland (C.1609-1702) by Gerard Soest. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,707.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Gerard Soest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a boy from the Ashley-Cooper family, half-length, wearing a blue wrap and a white shirt with a dog in a landscape in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 44,563.55).
