A top price for Gerard Soest - as previously expected
The work Portrait of a boy from the Ashley-Cooper family, half-length, wearing a blue wrap and a white shirt with a dog in a landscape by Gerard Soest was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 44,563.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of a boy from the Ashley-Cooper family, half-length, wearing a blue wrap and a white shirt with a dog in a landscape is the most expensive artwork by Gerard Soest that we have observed at auctions so far.
