Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of William, Lord Russell (1639-1683), half-length, in a red coat and wig by Gerard Soest was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2016. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,111.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gerard Soest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a boy from the Ashley-Cooper family, half-length, wearing a blue wrap and a white shirt with a dog in a landscape in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 44,563.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of William, Lord Russell (1639-1683), half-length, in a red coat and wig von Gerard Soest kam im November 2016 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.111,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gerard Soest auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a boy from the Ashley-Cooper family, half-length, wearing a blue wrap and a white shirt with a dog in a landscape im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 44.563,55).
