Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dutch Corners by Ger van Elk was auctioned at Christies in New York in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 504.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ger van Elk achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 20,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dutch Corners von Ger van Elk im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 504,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ger van Elk erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 20.000,00.
