A top price for George Sugarman - as previously expected
The work Black X by George Sugarman was sold in the FIRST OPEN | Post-War and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in March 2016. The price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 10,974.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Black X is the most expensive artwork by George Sugarman that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Black X von George Sugarman wurde im März 2016 in der Auktion FIRST OPEN | Post-War and Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 10.974,54) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Black X das teuerste Kunstwerk von George Sugarman, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
