Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A loaded timber barge on the Medway by George Stanfield Walters was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 360.00 (€ 522.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stanfield Walters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude! 'tis but to hold Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A loaded timber barge on the Medway von George Stanfield Walters im Juli 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 360,00 (€ 522,18) den Besitzer.
