In the British and Continental Watercolours auction, the work Moonlight, Holland sold for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,138.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Admittedly, works by George Stanfield Walters have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude! 'tis but to hold Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
