Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2007 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Paintings, Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Shipping In A Calm, Dordrecht by George Stanfield Walters. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 3,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Stanfield Walters - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude! 'tis but to hold Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.', which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2007 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Paintings, Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping In A Calm, Dordrecht von George Stanfield Walters zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 3.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von George Stanfield Walters mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude!
