Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Morning: Rowing Out To The Fishing Fleet by George Stanfield Walters was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in November 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 540.00 (€ 801.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stanfield Walters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude! 'tis but to hold Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
