Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Travellers resting along a country path by George Smith of Chichester. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,186.46). Admittedly, works by George Smith of Chichester have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,941.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Travellers resting along a country path von George Smith of Chichester zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.186,46) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Smith of Chichester auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 29.941,03).
