Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work The Hop Pickers by George Smith of Chichester for GBP 5,400.00 (€ 7,813.71). This price was achieved in the auction British Pictures 1500-1850 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Smith of Chichester - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond, which sold at auction in December 2011 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,941.03).
Für andere Arbeiten von George Smith of Chichester mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond beobachtet, die im Dezember 2011 für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 29.941,03) versteigert wurde.
