GEORGE SEGAL (1924-2000) Six Serigraphs: two prints Including: Sleeping Girl III, screenprint in colors, on wove paper, 1970, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 60/125; together with Sleeping Girl IV, screenprint in colors, on wove paper, 1970, signed and dated in pencil, presumably a proof aside from the edition of 125, each published by Pace Prints, New York, each with full margins, in generally good condition Each Image: 27 x 18 1 ⁄ 4 in. (682 x 464 mm.) Each Sheet: 32 1 ⁄ 2 x 24 1 ⁄ 2 in. (826 x 621 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
In April this year a collector was able to acquire the work Six Serigraphs: two prints by George Segal for USD 378.00 (€ 342.39). This price was achieved in the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Segal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Dancers in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,025,000.00 (€ 751,466.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Six Serigraphs: two prints von George Segal für USD 378,00 (€ 342,39) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 400,00 – 600,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Segal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Dancers im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.025.000,00 (€ 751.466,28).
