Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gypsies Around A Campfire In A Clearing by George Morland was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,512.00 (€ 1,667.23). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Morland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Fox Inn in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 53,775.00 (€ 77,277.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gypsies Around A Campfire In A Clearing von George Morland im September 2020 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.512,00 (€ 1.667,23) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Morland erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Fox Inn im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 53.775,00 (€ 77.277,60).
