Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by George Morland achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2016. In the Old Masters Day Sale auction, the work A View On The River Derwent At Belper, Derbyshire, With A Salmon And A Grayling On The Bank sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,793.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Morland - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Fox Inn, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 53,775.00 (€ 77,277.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Morland erzielte im Juli 2016 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale wurde die Arbeit A View On The River Derwent At Belper, Derbyshire, With A Salmon And A Grayling On The Bank für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.793,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Morland mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Fox Inn beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 53.775,00 (€ 77.277,60) versteigert wurde.
