Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'The abstract or the concrete' by George du Maurier was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction at Christies in London in December 2004. The price achieved of GBP 239.00 (€ 338.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George du Maurier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Two Thrones' in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,403.68).
