Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'An old King by a new name' by George du Maurier was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 725.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George du Maurier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Two Thrones' in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,403.68).
