Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by George du Maurier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work 'Picture Sunday' sold for GBP 1,015.75 (€ 1,437.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George du Maurier achieve.
