Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings, which included the work A coastal landscape with an Italianate town and a figure holding a staff; and A coastal landscape with a tower, a horseman and beggar on a path in the foreground by George Lambert. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,748.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Lambert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A View Of Fonthill, Wiltshire, With Haymakers In The Foreground in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 71,950.00 (€ 119,523.27).

Im November 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A coastal landscape with an Italianate town and a figure holding a staff; and A coastal landscape with a tower, a horseman and beggar on a path in the foreground von George Lambert zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.748,77) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Lambert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A View Of Fonthill, Wiltshire, With Haymakers In The Foreground im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 71.950,00 (€ 119.523,27).
